Soil restoration was not the plan & sustainability was a lifestyle.
I once ate a carrot where juice ran down my chin; I had never tasted a carrot like that before or since. I was not aware enough then to ask who and how this carrot was grown. I wish I had.
I have attended Dr. Elaine Inghams’s Soil Food Web School and can guess the carrot’s conditions. The expert hands knew, through experience, what was growing underground and maybe a hint of the impact it would make. I am growing carrots now; I hope they taste just as good. It’s good to have goals.
The Best fertilizer is the Gardener’s Shadow.

Soil is where it starts for Invasive Industries & my path to the founding.
My time became much more available in 2020, and no one needed reminding of what was happening that year. My kids were young and at home, and my work evaporated, and I gardened. Gardening has always been my happy place. I touch the plants and work the earth to produce viring results that have improved over time. My garden is where you can find me on my best and worst days. Before 2020, I gave the gardens around my house as much time as possible; I love it a little wild, so it worked out, but after 2020, we spent so much time in our backyard – together in isolation. I would leave my family inside to walk in the garden as I spoke to family and friends over the phone. We played outside, school, picnics, fire pits, forts, and so much more to break up the monotony of always being at home. We escaped the house to the magic of the outdoors. I told stories to my kids of my childhood outdoors.
Years earlier, I joined Garden Club by the Sea, a gift I gave myself during a busy life—dedicated time to learning about gardening. This organization has given me a working knowledge of gardening, ecology, horticulture, and sustainability. More time led to research, and more research brought me full circle to the soil.
So, we will start with soil.
